Microfluidic Perfusion Array for Hepatocyte Culture
A revolutionary platform enabling long-term primary hepatocyte culture with flow. Each microfluidic array contains 32 independent perfusion units designed to mimic the natural liver architecture, resulting in more clinically relevant results. Validated with freshly isolated and cryopreserved hepatocytes from human and rat origin. The Pearl lets you perform multiple hepatocyte experiments at a fraction of the time and cost of alternate methods, while obtaining data not currently possible in vitro. Formatted to a standard 96 well plate with a #1.5 thickness glass bottom, enabling high quality microscopy, fluorescence, luminescence, and biochemical analysis. All products backed by our 100% Customer Satisfaction Guarantee.
Key Features:
• 32 fully independent perfusion units
• Microfabricated environment mimics natural liver
• Maintains liver-metabolic activity for 30+ days
• Pump-free culture in a standard incubator
• Automation compatible 96 well format
• #1.5 glass bottom for high quality imaging
The bio-mimetic microfluidic environment leads isolated liver cells into behaving as they would in an intact organ. This allows hepatocytes to recover and maintain liver-specific functions in the Pearl array for over 30 days, including Phase I and II metabolic activity, morphological properties, induction/inhibtion potential, and drug dosage response.
The presence of flow is fundamental to the function of the liver. The elaborate sinusoid network in the liver enables blood, xenobiotics, and virtually everything else in the body to be filtered by metabolically active hepatocytes. The flow-based culture of the Pearl array offers a superior alternative to existing static culture systems.
The standard 96 well format and passive fluidics allow the Pearl array to be operated using existing automation equipment and assay methods. Easily scale from one to tens to hundreds of plates with minimal up-front investment.
